WILDLIFE SAFETY

On collection days, leave your securely latched bucket or cart curbside no earlier than 7am and bring it back inside by 7pm. Please ensure that your bucket remains inaccessible to wildlife except on your collection day. This can include keeping it indoors or in a bear-proof trash enclosure.

To protect wildlife, all food waste must be inside the bucket or cart. Do not set excess food waste alongside your bucket in any other container or bag.

If your bucket or cart is damaged, you will be responsible for the cost of a replacement. If your bucket or cart no longer deters wildlife interactions or is too difficult to service, our team has the option to automatically replace it and charge your account.

If your bucket or cart is damaged due to a bear breach, you may lose service privileges during months when bears are active and might also get fined for wildlife endangerment. We have the right to refuse service if we think your actions resulted in a wildlife interaction.

Strict adherence to these rules is expected. Each wildlife interaction jeopardizes the viability of the residential compost program and the life of our beloved wildlife.
